In an internet we can find lots of Websites. Websites are of various categories, varieties and natures according to its contents, uses and information. Website can be used for various ways like sharing information, earning money, and making publicity of certain materials and things etc. Websites can be classified according to their nature and contents.  Some of the major classification of Websites is:

• Affiliate: it enabled portal that renders not only its custom CMS but also syndicated content from other content providers for an agreed fee. There are usually three relationship tiers. Affiliate Agencies, Advertisers and consumer.
• Archive site: it is used to preserve or protect the valuable electronic content threatened with extinction. For example: Internet Archieve, in 1996 it preserved billions of webpages and Google Groups, in 2005 over 845000000 messages were posted to discussion groups.
• Blog (or web log) site: This sites is used to post the online diaries or daily work done our views which includes discussion forums. For example Blogger, Xanga etc.
• Content site: it is the websites who creates and distributes the original contents. For example about.
• Corporate website: This website generally provide information about the business, organization, corporative or services.
• Commerce site (or eCommerce site): This websites are generally for purchasing and selling goods and services like Amazon.com, CSN store etc..
• Community site: It is a site or website where people of same nature or people having same interest communicate its feeling and ideas with each other like chat or message board like Fsacebook, Hi5, Twitter etc.
• City Site: This site shows the information about a certain town or city. In this site the event or things happen in this city is shown. It can be created by city council
• Gripe site: It is a site build by devoting the critique of a person, place, institution or government.
• Information site: This sites contains content which should be inform to visitors, but it is not necessary for commercial purposes likeRateMyProfessors.com, wekipedia, Encyclopedia.
• Java applet site: This site contains the software needed to run over the Web as a Web application.
• Mirror site: This types of websites is known as the total reproduction of website.
• News site: This websites provides information or news about the certain matters or things.
• Personal homepage: This kind of websites is runned by an individual or a small group (such as a family or friends) that contains information or data or idea or any content that the individual wants to include.
• Political site: This site is for getting information about the political views.
• Porn site – In this site a  sexually explicit content or pornographic content include. It is for enjoyment and relaxation, most likely in the form of an internet gallery, dating site, blog, or video sharing..

• Search engine site: Google, Yahoo, Amazon Search etc are the major examples of this sites. It provides general information and helps to find the gateway or other websites.
• Warez: It is a website where a users a  can download the copyrighted materials illegally.

Some website contains more than one or more categories. For example, a business website may promote the business's products, but may also host informative documents, such as white papers, videos, songs etc. There are also numerous sub-categories to the ones listed above. For example, a porn site is a specific type of e-commerce site or business site (that is, it is trying to sell memberships for access to its site). A fan site may be a dedication from the owner to a particular celebrity.
